Mary Ann Coulter

Stephanie Desson

Mary Ann is registered as a psychologist with the  College of Psychologists of Ontario. She practices as a counselling psychologist and school psychologist and is licensed to work with children, youth, and adults.

Counselling Psychologists foster and improve human functioning by helping individuals experiencing distress and difficulties associated with: 1) life events and transitions, 2) decision making, 3) family and social relationships, 4) work/career/education, and 5) mental/physical health concerns (definition from the College of Psychologists of Ontario).  Mary Ann utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a primary counselling approach which has been found effective in treating many mental health concerns.

School Psychologists apply knowledge about human behaviour and development to  understand the social, emotional, and learning needs of children, adolescents, and adults. They help create environments that facilitate learning and mental health (definition from the College of Psychologist of Ontario). Mary Ann provides psycho-educational assessment services focusing on the needs and concerns of the client.

Stephanie is registered as a psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Carleton University and a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University. She is currently under the mentorship of Mary Ann Coulter.

Stephanie has experience providing therapy to children, youth, and adults in the areas of anxiety, depression, anger management, and self-regulation. Her approach to therapy is collaborative and she seeks to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients make changes to their feelings, behaviours, and thought patterns. She has provided mental health services in a number of settings from hospital and residential settings to a clinic environment. Stephanie worked with high risk youth in group homes who were experiencing abuse, neglect and mental health crisis. Stephanie's post-secondary research focused on social and cyber aggression in youth and mental health for children in gifted programming.
